Beware! Once you meet a Golden Siberian Cat you will never be the same!
They have an aura about them, a shining beauty and a multi-faceted coloring. I like to say they remind me of my favorite gemstone, the Citrine. The best Citrines have not only a rich golden color, but within the facets of the gem there are glints of silvery golden white, dark amber, molten gold, and even a golden brown. To me these cats are like living gems... as rare and precious as any diamond.
The golden color is a unique coloring not found in most other breeds. The golden Persian is a shaded brown tabby and not alike to this shimmering color at all, though beautiful in it's own right.
Golden is a rare gene and must be carried by both parents to be expressed. This makes it even more rare as golden carriers may be mated together and never produce a single golden kitten. Some lucky catteries can work around those odds though and of course breeding two golden cats together gives you nothing but golden.
Pendraig Siberian Cats is only at the beginning of our Golden Program. Our first Golden girl is just a sweet kitten but we hope to bring you the same healthy, genetically diverse and affectionate kittens you trust in this rare coloring in the years to come.
