Probiotics to the Rescue: Primal Defense Probiotics Save Einstein the Dog

Probiotics play a crucial role in the over-all health of the body.  Modern diets and medicine however wreak havoc on the careful balance of bacteria in our bodies.  Over-use of antibiotics and diets high in sugar, centered on excessive carbohydrate intake, and devoid of naturally fermented foods coupled with our super sterile environments are robbing the body of important probiotics needed to maintain a vital and delicate harmony that is paramount to good health.

Probiotics or “good bacteria” help to keep the “bad bacteria” in check.  They also play a key role in digesting foods and breaking down toxins.  A body that is deficient in probiotics cannot defend itself from the unchecked overgrowth of other bacteria and in turn may suffer from many chronic ailments including Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD.

For people with or owners of pets with IBD there is hope.  Lynn Eastman who lives in Washington State went through a terrible trial and nearly lost her beloved German Shepherd Dog, Einstein.

    Einstein
    Einstein at 105 lbs
Einstein was first diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI).  Initially he was put on special enzymes and did well.  It didn’t last long however.  Soon he was suffering again from chronic diarrhea and was rapidly losing weight.  He was put on different antibiotics, different diets and medications and he would seem to do well for a few months but nothing was working long-term and Einstein continued to deteriorate and suffer.   Finally a specialist was called .in and they did an endoscopic procedure and biopsies.  Einstein was then diagnosed with Canine Inflammatory Bowel Disease.  He was put on yet another round of antibiotics and a diet of boiled chicken.  Lynn also included a supplement called DiaBac that she found doing her own research on the Internet.  DiaBac is a nutritional supplement of essential oils intended to combat diarrhea.  This seemed to help him for awhile, and the chronic diarrhea stopped, but he was still dropping weight.  Lynn was getting frantic watching her boy become emaciated and even considered putting him down to end his suffering.  Einstein was suffering terribly and was 20 pounds under weight.  But neither Lynn nor her Veterinarian were ready to give up.  He was encouraged by the results of DiaBac and asked Lynn if she could continue searching and find another supplement that they could try.  So Lynn did, searching for Crohn’s Disease (the human equivalent of Einstein’s disorder) she found some research studies on a very powerful probiotics called Primal Defense.  Lynn immediately bought a bottle and put Einstein on it.  He improved within the first week, regaining his strength, and soon she had him up to 105 pounds.  Einstein is still in remission to this day but will be on Primal Defense for the rest of his life.

Once Einstein was doing better one of Lynn’s other German Shepherds was also diagnosed with IBD however, and Lynn wasted no time in putting her on Primal Defense as well and within a month she was doing much better.  This led Lynn to put all of her dogs on Primal Defense to prevent any further illness.  She is happy to report that she her two dogs with IBD are doing well.

Lynn wants everyone to know what Primal Defense has done for her dogs, “if it hadn't been for Primal Defense I know my Einstein would not be with me today”.  But it is very important that if you are considering such a treatment that you start out slow.  Primal Defense can cause a rapid detoxification and should be given in small doses until the body adapts, per the label instructions.  And not all probiotics are healthy for you or your pets, some are created using soy or other dangerous ingredients so be sure to read the labels.  I have used Primal Defense for my IBD with great success and now only use it occasionally as I have included fermented foods into my diet.  Primal Defense helped me to get an edge on my condition and I will never be without it again.  I also supplement all of my pets with Primal Defense at least once a week but they also receive naturally fermented foods on a regular basis.

Ideally we wouldn’t need to use supplements such as Primal Defense to maintain a healthy body, but because of our modern lifestyles and the lack of naturally fermented foods in our diets it becomes a necessity.  I encourage everyone to look into adding probiotics to the diets of your animals, your family, and yourself along with fermented foods.  Such a little addition to your daily regimen can make a huge difference in the overall welfare of those in your care.  Never forget the importance of probiotics.

Pendraig Siberians recommends the use of Primal Defense in your pet's diet for optimum health and we require it in our kitten contracts. You can purchase it affordably at www.iherb.com in the powder form and mix with their food. While you are there buy some for yourself and improve your health as well!
